Holds So Much Cash<\/h2>\n<p>Among the top 50 companies, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/ranked-the-top-performing-sectors-since-chatgpt-launched\/\">Financials sector<\/a>\u00a0collectively holds the largest cash reserves at $1.2 trillion\u2014partially driven by strict capital rules requiring banks to maintain large liquid buffers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualcapitalist.com\/visualizing-berkshire-hathaways-stock-portfolio-q1-2024\/\">Berkshire Hathaway<\/a>\u00a0is different: its cash position is strategic, not regulatory.<\/p>\n<p>After 12 straight quarters as a net seller of stocks, Buffett and the team have parked much of the company\u2019s liquidity in short-term U.S. Treasury bills, implying that equity meantime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Why Big Tech Holds So Much Cash<\/h2>\n<p>The Magnificent Seven: Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia and Tesla collectively hold $597 billion\u2014enough to buy most S&amp;P 500 companies.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, Big Tech companies are massive cash machines: high gross margins and scalable cost structures mean incremental revenue converts into cash quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Despite spending heavily to build AI factories, they\u2019ve used little of their cash reserves to finance them\u2014opting instead for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ca.finance.yahoo.com\/news\/alphabet-plans-sell-rare-100-113052198.html\">debt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They hold large cash stockpiles both to fund acquisitions and guard against potential
