They want you to believe it\u2019s incompetence. It isn\u2019t. The federal government\u2019s \u201cimproper payments\u201d are the clearest proof yet that the Swamp doesn\u2019t just waste your money \u2014 it runs on it.<\/p>\n

This week the GAO admitted the feds pushed out an estimated $186 billion in improper payments<\/a> in fiscal year 2025 \u2014 and that\u2019s only the part they can measure. As PJ Media<\/a> laid out, more than half of all federal spending can\u2019t even be traced to confirm it reached the right recipient. Read that again: trillions move through Washington every year, and nobody can say with certainty where it went.<\/p>\n

The rot isn\u2019t hiding in the shadows \u2014 it\u2019s baked into the programs. Citizens Against Government Waste<\/a> reports that roughly 6.2 million Obamacare enrollments this year \u2014 about 27% of all ACA sign-ups \u2014 were improper, costing up to $25 billion in subsidies. Add business loans handed to \u201centrepreneurs\u201d as young as 11 and unemployment checks mailed to infants and people listed as 115 years old<\/a>, and you stop seeing a glitch. You see a machine that feeds itself.<\/p>\n

To their credit, House Republicans are finally swinging the axe. The National Taxpayers Union<\/a> is pushing a stack of bills aimed straight at the rot \u2014 Rep. Comer\u2019s Pre-Payment Fraud Prevention and Treasury Data Access Act, Rep. Self\u2019s Federal Program Integrity and Fraud Prevention Act, Rep. Palmer\u2019s ZOMBIE Act, and Rep. Biggs\u2019 TRUE Accountability Act.<\/p>\n

Good. But don\u2019t go lukewarm on me. This didn\u2019t grow overnight, and it didn\u2019t grow under one party. Both sides of the aisle built and guarded this machine for decades, because the money flows to the right friends \u2014 the contractors, the NGOs, the activist outfits that vote the way the donor class wants. Every \u201cimproper payment\u201d is somebody\u2019s paycheck, and that somebody has a lobbyist.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the truth underneath the spreadsheet: a government that can\u2019t account for half of what it spends has stopped serving the people and started feeding itself. Scripture doesn\u2019t blink at this \u2014 \u201cThe wicked worketh a deceitful work\u201d<\/em> (Proverbs 11:18, KJV) \u2014 and there is nothing more deceitful than dressing up theft as bureaucracy and calling fraud a rounding error.<\/p>\n

The mask is off. The question isn\u2019t whether Washington wastes your money. It\u2019s whether the men finally holding the axe will swing hard enough to sever the hand that\u2019s been feeding itself \u2014 or whether these bills become one more press release that changes nothing.<\/p>\n

Watch the votes. Names matter. So does follow-through.<\/p>\n
