(Photo by SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images)\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"post-body-text\">\n<div class=\"e1oxhxj20 css-1ln9i1s\">\n<p>Three Democratic-led states accounted for the vast majority of unemployment fraud since 2020, according to an initial survey of such fraud by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).<\/p>\n<p>California, New York, and Massachusetts tallied nearly 80% of improper unemployment insurance benefits handed out since 2020. An initial review of claims by DOGE found $382 million in fraudulent payments.<\/p>\n<p>The DOGE audit found that \u201c24.5k people over 115 years old claimed $59M in benefits,\u201d \u201c28k people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254M in benefits,\u201d and \u201c9.7k people with birth dates over 15 years in the future claimed $69M in benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn one case, someone with a birthday in 2154 claimed $41k,\u201d DOGE added in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p>Of those flagged claims, California, New York, and Massachusetts accounted for over $300 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalifornia, New York, and Massachusetts accounted for most of these improper claims, totaling $305M in unemployment benefits,\u201d said DOGE. \u201cAdditionally, California accounted for 68% of the unemployment benefits paid to parolees identified by CBP on the terrorist watchlist or with criminal records.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">California, New York, and Massachusetts accounted for most of these improper claims, totaling $305M in unemployment benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, California accounted for 68% of the unemployment benefits paid to parolees identified by CBP on the terrorist watchlist or with criminal\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6jYGfxW7Fr\">https:\/\/t.co\/6jYGfxW7Fr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Department of Government Efficiency (@DOGE) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DOGE\/status\/1910449939487895905?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 10, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>White House spokesman Harrison Fields said the revelation is an example of the kind of governance that pushed people to move from deep blue states such as California and New York to Republican-led states such as Texas and Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a reason for the mass exodus from Democrat-run states that have mismanaged their economies and driven residents to the nearest Republican-led state,\u201d Fields told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/dem-states-blame-most-nearly-400-million-unemployment-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>. \u201cHigh taxes, poor stewardship of taxpayer dollars and progressive policies continue to yield negative results, which is why Americans overwhelmingly support the work of DOGE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>California, New York, and Massachusetts are under solid Democratic control. Democrats control the governor\u2019s office, the state House, and the Senate in each state, while also having the offices of secretary of state and attorney general as well.<\/p>\n<p>DOGE is spearheading the Trump administration\u2019s efforts to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government.
